THE PLANNING IDEA

Design questions can age well,
even when answers change.

AARP HomeFit and the National Institute on Aging both encourage thinking about how a home functions room by room and planning ahead for safety, ease of use and future needs.

This worksheet does not ask for a diagnosis, disability status, age or medical history. It does not produce ADA/accessibility compliance, code dimensions, fall-risk scores, product prescriptions or installation details. Those require the correct current standards, project conditions and qualified professionals.

SIX HOME-USE LENSES

Keep what works.
Make the questions visible.

Use a simple project or household nickname. For each lens, record only what you have observed or want to discuss—not a self-diagnosis.
